Steve's Back Update

As many know, Steve and James were in a car accident in December of 2003. Due to injuries sustained in the accident, Steve had a spinal fusion done in December of 2004. Well, this only made things worse! Steve has been unable to work since then. He is currently fighting with Social Security to get disability benefits. He needs the medical benefits to go to a new surgeon and hopefully get some relief. He has a hearing with a judge coming up in the new year, we will keep you posted. This is a picture of Steve's spinal x-rays. This is a fusion of the thoracic spine involving levels T4-T5, T5-T6, & T6-T7 (three levels). He always likes to show it to people, he thinks it looks pretty impressive.

Dinner With The BornKamps

On December 19th our Uncle Gordon and Aunt Laura made a visit to Barstow. They graciously invited us to dinner. What a beautiful table they set before us. We dined on Cajun Lasagna, salad with Feta cheese and wonderful garlic toast. We liked it so much, Steve had seconds and James had thirds!!

We made cookies for Aunt Laura, here is the plate we gave her. Our ferret, Nevil, is very interested.

Instead of cookies, I gave Nevil a kiss. He loves it so much. We have had Nevil for four years now, he is a great pet. He has a lot of energy but is very gentle and loving. We named him after Nevil from the Harry Potter books.

This is a nice picture of James and his mother Darlene.
This is Darlene (James' mom), James, Gordon, Laura and Steve. Doesn't Aunt Laura take great pictures.

Remembering Mark

On October 28, 2006 our cousin Mark Carl Ellis was tragically taken from us. He was only 22. He was a good man who touched the lives of so many. I will always remember him for taking the time to stop on his way home from a road trip to visit us. We spent a wonderful afternoon together with him and his fiance, Neesha. You will be missed. This is a picture of ( L to R) Steve's Aunt Laura, Mark's Grandmother, and her sister, Steve's Aunt Lana standing next to a picture of Mark.

Remembering Mark

Steve's cousin Chyrisa, Mark's mother, speaking at his service in Mesquite, Nevada. We were so glad we could be there to give and recieve emotional support as well as represent those of our family who could not attend. Chyrisa gave a beautiful eulogy. We love her so much, we will always be there for her.

Remembering Mark

This is a picture my Aunt Laura took of Mark and his fiance Neesha. This was taken when Mark met up with her in Pahrump, Nevada. Mark is looking at a book of his baby pictures.

This is one of our best frineds Judy. This is a picture of her first sky dive. She is the one in the yellow shirt. I love this picture. Judy moved to Conneticut several years ago so we mostly keep in touch through the internet. We miss her very much, and we hope to see her soon. We love ya JooDEE!!

Ashley & Tara Graduate

In June of 2006, our nieces Ashley and Tarra graduated. Tarra moved from middle to High School, while Ashley completed her senior year at High School. We are very proud of both of them. Steve can't believe how old his nieces are getting, they are dragging him down as they go! We love them so much.
