Hey PRETTY BOY!

This is Pretty Boy Hannibal. This sweet kitty belongs to my parents, Tony and Lola. They call him Hannibal because they say he is so bad, personally I think it is the other way around. Pretty Boy has my parents trained very well. He eats when he wants, goes outside when he wants and he knows how to get my father to get my mother to do anything else he wants. He sounds pretty smart to me!

Steve Loves Bats

I have always loved bats. They are magnificent creatures; much maligned and feared. Bats actually are very gentle. Out of the roughly 950 known bat species, only THREE (all Vampire bats), drink blood. (Vampire bats do not live in North America, they are native to Central and South America.) Most bat myths are false, bats do not carry rabies any more than any other wild animal. They will not fly in your hair, anymore than any other wild animal will. Most others are also false.

These are pictures of Townsend's Big Eared bats (Corynorhinus townsendii). They are native to most of North America. This bat eats insects. Bats clear millions of pounds of insects out of our cites daily. I hope to travel to Texas to see Bracken cave which is owned and operated by Bat Conservation International. This cave is a protected home to millions of bats. Their nightly exit is said to take the colony several hours to complete. I would love to watch. I like to use the name BatJack; I take the first part of this from my love of bats. (The second part I take from my love of Black Jack!!)

Christmas With The Bobadillas

My sister spent Christmas with our family the Bobadillas. They all had a nice time visiting and spending the holidays together. Circumstances prevented James and I from attending the festivities, hopefully next year! My cousin Denise and Betsy came in from Virginia. This is my Uncle Bill carving (or just eating!) a turkey. You can see Denise's red hair in the background. She always was easy to pick out anywhere.

This is Denise, one of my favorite cousins. We grew up together; almost inseparable for the first 20 years of our lives. She now lives in Virginia. I miss her very much and try to keep in touch as much as I can. I love you, Red!

Piddy

On November 27, 2006 we made the difficult decision to put Piddy to sleep. Her given name was Elmira, but we always called her Piddy. She was given to us by our friend Sean, who has since passed away. Piddy had been with us for over 11 years. We estimated her age at about 13-14 years. She will be greatly missed.

Movies

One of our great passions are movies. We love to watch them, talk about them, and continuously quote our favorite lines. I thought I might post a few of my favorites from time to time. One of my all time favorites is Mel Brook's comedy Young Frankenstein. This movie was shot in black and white to resemble to old horror movies of the 40's, but don't let that dissuade you. The visual experience is not harmed in the least. Brooks used the same electrical lab equipment from the original version of Frankenstein with Boris Karloff. The cast are perfect in their respective roles, though I would have to say my favorites are Madelin Kahn, who plays Frankenstein's girlfriend Elizabeth, and Cloris Leachman, who plays Frau Blucher. Give it a try, I would give it a 10 out of 10!
